The Nokia X family is a range of smartphones produced and marketed by Microsoft Mobile. It was introduced in February 2014 by Nokia. The smartphones run on the Nokia X platform, an Android-based operating system. They are priced between the Nokia Asha and Nokia Lumia devices. The "Nokia" brand name will continue to be used under Microsoft ownership since April 25, 2014.
The Nokia X devices heavily resemble the newer (50x and 230) Asha phones, as well as containing Lumia features. They contain a single 'back' button like the Asha 50x and 230. In June 2014, the second generation X2 was launched, with an additional 'home' button.[1]
The new Nokia X portfolio is not related to the Nokia Xseries from 2009 to 2011.[citation needed] It was called during announcement as the Nokia X family by CEO Stephen Elop, possibly to distinguish it from the previous Xseries.
